下图是一种常见的此类废水的处理工艺（CoMagTM）流程，运用了HGMS技术，城市污水中的污染物绝大部分是非磁性的，在其中加入磁种和适当的混凝剂，再通过高梯度磁分离器，能去除污水中的悬浮物、色度、浊度、磷酸盐、细菌等，磁性材料与去除物的吸附——在目前运用的磁分离水体净化技术中，磁性材料和去除物的吸附基本上采用混凝技术来实现（也有少些是通过添加具有絮凝功能的特异性磁种，通过磁种表面的特异性基团实现絮凝，来实现该吸附结合过程。

磁分离技术：是利用强磁力将废水中的导磁性絮团打捞分离出来，达到水质净化的目的，微磁絮凝+**磁分离技术以及磁催化活性污泥技术在2006年开始已经应用于**废水、工业废水、油田废水领域，**磁分离技术是利用永磁磁盘过滤吸附带磁性的悬浮物达到固液分离的目的，整个混凝、絮凝和固液分离的时间为3分钟左右，经过添加磁种、混凝、絮凝后的污水通过**磁分离设备的流速可达到300m/h~1000m/h；磁混凝沉淀技术是通过投加比重为5.2的磁粉，并使之与水中颗粒物紧密结合，从而提高混凝絮体的比重，大大加快沉淀速度，BioMag生化技术是通过磁粉与生物处理相结合，提高污泥沉降性能，增加污泥浓度。

通过投加磁粉对絮团赋予磁性并形成较大直径的粒子，在**磁分离和磁混凝沉淀中达到泥水分离，利用**强稀土永磁所产生的磁力，将絮团的磁粉吸附到圆筒表面上，并随圆筒一起旋转，待脱离磁场作用后在卸料系统作用下回收磁粉，而非磁性物从卸料口排出，从而完成磁粉回收再利用。磁分离技术处理能力大、**、能量消耗少、设备简单紧凑等一系列优点。在水处理领域应用fei常高，目前已经应用在富营养化河流治理、污水处理厂升级改造、中水回用膜分离前预处理以及电镀、印染、化工和油田等行业废水处理。
