Also in the 1930s, Woodward developed a variable-pitch aircraft propeller governor. When the U.S. military's first turbo-powered aircraft flew successfully, its GE engine had a Woodward controller. Beginning in the 1950s, Woodward began designing electronic controls, first analog units, then digital units.

As of 2007, Governor Woodward is a $1 billion company with offices around the world, including: Japan, China, Europe and many other companies. On January 26, 2011, the Company announced that shareholders had approved the name change to its current name.
